Michael A. Betts was born and raised in Oklahoma City and obtained his undergraduate degree in economics with a minor in finance from the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business.  Michael then attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he helped establish a volunteer tax preparation assistance site through the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program; participated in an international study program at the historic Brasenose College at Oxford University; and served as the Technology Manager for the Oklahoma Journal of Law and Technology. Michael received the Internal Revenue Service Award for Outstanding Public Service and American Jurisprudence Awards in Legal Research and Writing and Commercial Law.  He was published in the Oklahoma Journal of Law and Technology on the topic of competition law and graduated in 2007 as a member of the legal honor society, Phi Delta Phi.

Since graduating from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Michael has advised public and private companies in all phases of their business, including the formation and structuring of new companies and joint ventures, negotiation of credit agreements and other business contracts, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, dissolutions, and risk management.  He has also served as the Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel for several healthcare companies in the hospital and clinical laboratory spaces.

Michael is a member of the Texas Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association and has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma.
